LHS Celebrates Hospital, Nursing Home WeekLawrence Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Hall Nursing Center observed National Hospital and Nursing Home Week May 9-14. “Each year, employees, staff and residents at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Hall Nursing Center are eager to celebrate the outstanding healthcare provided to the community and honor each other for a job well done,” said Terry Lambert, Lawrence Health Services President.
Along with daily treats, including ice cream sundaes, popcorn and cookies, employees were honored with a cookout on Thursday. Members of the administrative staff cooked and served hotdogs, hamburgers and all the trimmings. Lawrence Hall residents enjoyed the week by dressing up each day to a different theme. Winners of the daily costume contests were Pajama Day – Brook Ward, 80’s Day – Sabrina Smith, Gypsy Day – Loretta Wheeler, Twinkie Day – Shirley Gates and Brook Ward, Pink Day – Weldon Strickland and Nerd Day – Kim Jones, Millie Thompson and Loretta Wheeler.
Other activities in Lawrence Hall included a karaoke contest, won by Sara Benson, and a staff/resident bowling tournament, which was won by Debbie Wheelis and Wade Johnston. Launched in Chicago in 1921, National Hospital Week is the nation’s largest healthcare event. It is a time to honor and show appreciation for all who are involved in the services provided at hospitals and long-term care facilities. |
