Dr. William Coates Podiatry is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the human foot. Common problems include:

Achilles tendinitis - irritation and inflamation of the tendon that attaches to the back of the heel bone
Bunions - misaligned big toe joints which can become swollen and tender
Hammertoe - a condition in which the toe is bent in a claw like position
Heel spurs - growths of bone on the underside, forepart of the heel bone
Ingrown toenails - Nails whose corners or sides dig painfully into the skin
Stress factures - incomplete cracks in bone caused by overuse

Dr. William Coates of the Podiatry Group is here every Thursday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Procedures performed at Lawrence Health are the removal of toenails, and toenail trims and diabetic shoe casting. He also holds surgery consultations.
